New trend: ruffles

Balmain así lo ha anunciado en su último desfile de la Semana de la Moda parisina: los volantes están de vuelta. Olivier Rousteing, director creativo de la firma, ha sabido conjugar esa esencia atrevida y rebelde que caracteriza a la famosa armada Balmain (a la que pertenecen Kendall Jenner y Gigi Hadid, entre otras) con diseños de lo más actuales. Desde vestidos en tonalidades rosa y azul pastel (¡los colores de este verano!) hasta monos aptos tanto para el día como para la noche.

Esta tendencia también ha formado parte de otras colecciones. Stella McCartney optaba para su colección otoño/invierno 2016 por volantes mucho más discretos que se integraban en el diseño de blusas y ponchos, y Elie Saab presentaba la versión más sexy de estos gracias a la sugerente superposición de encajes.

Y aquí viene la pregunta que todas nos hacemos: ¿y cómo adaptamos esta tendencia a nuestros looks del día a día? La opción que más acogida está teniendo entre editoras y directoras de moda e it girls es la clásica blusa o camisa con volantes que reinterpretan la prenda desde una nueva perspectiva mucho más atrevida.

Todo hace pensar que aunque las propuestas de las pasadas Semanas de la Moda formen parte de las colecciones otoño/invierno 2016, este verano los volantes van a convertirse en protagonistas de las calles.

Balmain has presented a new trend at its Paris Fashion Week show: ruffles. Olivier Rousteing, Creative Director at Balmain has merged the rebellious essence of the Balmain Army (models Kendall Jenner and Gigi Hadid are part of it) with a more approachable take on the designs. From dresses in pastel pink and blue hues (the colours for this summer!) to sexy jumpsuits to wear from day to night.

This trend has also been part of other collections. This is the case of Stella McCartney, who opted for discreet and delicate ruffles integrated into blouses and ponchos, and of Elie Saab and his sexy presentation of ruffles thanks to the intriguing superposition of layers of lace.

And here comes the question we always ask ourselves: how can I wear this trend and adapt it to my personal style? Fashion editors and directors and it girls propose a discreet approach to the trend with the traditional blouse or shirt with ruffles that integrate within the overall design of the piece.

It seems that although this trend was part of the Autumn/Winter 2016 collections, ruffles will be a fashion must-have next summer.

¡Feliz año a todos!

No hay mejor manera de empezar el 2016 que con este post sobre Gigi Hadid. Y es que la modelo se ha convertido en una sensación mediática dentro y fuera de las pasarelas no solo por su enigmática belleza, sino también por ese carácter fuerte con el que defiende su trabajo y su cuerpo (recordad aquel post en Instagram en el que calló a aquellos que se metían con su silueta. Sí, por increíble que parezca).

Su estilo es el reflejo de esa personalidad que ha llevado a Gigi ha la cumbre del mundo fashion. Este look además es uno de los outfits que más veremos en este año y que ya comenzó a arrasar en 2015: vestido midi que recorre la silueta del cuerpo acentuando las curvas de la mujer. Toda una inspiración para este nuevo año.

Big apologies for not having posted for a long time - it's been a really hectic month! Now that everything is calmer and the weather is finally getting warmer, we need to start thinking about adding some items to our spring/summer wardrobe. The off-the-shoulder trend is going to be definitely a must the coming season, and you can find it in shirts, t-shirts and dresses. By choosing different accessories you can dress up or down your look, and can be worn either in the morning or evening. 

Here are some inspiration looks I found, and hopefully they will help you to get some ideas on how to wear this trend.

Disculpas por no haber acuatizado el blog desde hace tiempo - ha sido un mes de locura! Ahora que todo está más tranquilo, y que el tiempo por fin va mejorando, necesitamos empezar a pensar en adquirir alguna que otra nueva prenda para nuestro armario de primavera/verano. La tendencia off the shoulder, que deja los hombros al descubierto, va a ser definitivamente un must la próxima temporada, y se puede llevar tanto en camisas y camisetas como en vestidos. Los accesorios que elijas serán los encargados de dar un toque diferente a cada look, según la ocasión, adaptando tu outfit al día o a la noche.

We women have to confess that, even though we have plenty of clothes, we love borrowing stuff from our boyfriends and male friends, specially hoodies. So when the boyfriend jeans appeared on the market, we took them without hesitation and adapted them to our style. It has been such a success that now we can add another masculine piece of clothing to our wardrobe: the boyfriend blazer. I am personally into this item since it is my favourite piece of clothing.
